IG Speaks Against Illegal Arrest – Says It’s Unlawful to do So

Following the recent #30daysrantchallenge, many Nigerian youth have taken the bold step to express their griefs, disappointment to the Tinubu led administration due to current economic situations. Due to current economic hardship, there have been several videos of well meaning Nigerians expressing themselves.

We all believe that in a Democratic nation like Nigeria, freedom of speech shouldn’t be something to fear for. Some of the men in the Nigerian police has taken law into their hands, unlawfully arresting and detaining citizens. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has warned his men against prolonged detention of suspects.

IG Speaks Against Illegal Arrest

He further stated that this unlawful detention, will bring about lack of public trust in the Police force, as he warns them not to detain beyond the legally stipulated time, urging officers to conduct their duties with professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights.
