Tobi Amusan and Buhari : as she receives National Honour

The Nigerian female athlete, who did the country proud after bagging gold medal at the 100 meters race at the just concluded commonwealth . Tobi, Brume and a host of others recieved a honourary award from Mr President. The award according to president Buhari, is to commend their effort and hardwork, and also flying the nation’s flag so high.

National honour was also bestowed to Nigeria’s long jumper, Ese Brume, who won silver at the World Athletics Championships and gold in the Commonwealth games by breaking a Game Record.

Also receiving a national honour is para powerlifter Folashade Oluwafemiayo. At both the Tokyo 2022 Paralympics and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she won gold in the Women’s 68 kg category by setting new world records.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Thursday, approved National Honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger and cash awards of N200 million for Team Nigeria contingents to the 2022 Commonwealth Games and World Athletics championships.

At an award ceremony held at the State House, Abuja, the President congratulated the athletes for their “outstanding performances” saying their hour of sporting glory beamed the ‘‘radar of the world on Nigeria’’ and their exploits have projected the positive image of the country.
