After Enzo Maresca chose not to include the midfield player in the team for the team’s preseason tour to the United States, there are a lot of rumors swirling over Casadei’s future at Stamford Bridge. Additionally, Fiorentina has reportedly spoken with Chelsea to arrange a deal for the Italian, per Gianluca Di Marzio.


The two teams have not yet agreed on the conditions of the transaction, but Fiorentina is hoping to sign the midfielder on loan. Three or four other teams have expressed interest in the player, according to Fabrizio Romano, who also says that Chelsea is debating whether to proceed with talks with the Serie A team.

Casadei was originally acquired by Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2022 for an initial fee of £12.6 million ($16.24 million), with the possibility of further add-ons worth £4.2 million ($5.41 million). The player played with Chelsea’s under-21 team during the first half of the 2022–2023 season before being loaned to Reading for the second half of the campaign. Casadei worked under Maresca at Leicester City while his loan there during the previous season. Nevertheless, when Chelsea invited him back in January, his time with The Foxes came to an end. Even after coming back, Casadei was mainly utilized as a bench warmer for the rest of the season.

Casadei has had difficulty breaking into the starting lineup, and it is clear that Stamford Bridge is not where his future is. Whether he returns to Italy, where he spent the early years of his career, is still to be seen.
