LASUWA Poetry Album – A NEW DAWN: Elevating Naija Spoken Word
Lagos State University Writer’s Association (LASUWA) proudly presents A New Dawn, a groundbreaking poetry album aimed at promoting spoken word poetry across Nigeria. Spearheaded by Adelana Victor Blaqhárt, LASUWA Speaker and Executive Producer, this album seeks to inspire a renewed appreciation for spoken word, especially among young creatives.
A New Dawn showcases not only the lyrical depth of the artists involved but also their dedication to independently bringing a unique vision to life. Each track is a meditation on life’s challenges and triumphs, with verses that echo universal emotions and introspections. The album’s journey from struggle to hope reflects the theme of “a new dawn”—a fresh start that resonates deeply with audiences in Nigeria and beyond.
This 7-track album, running 18 minutes and 23 seconds, features contributions from talented vocalists Hokon Olasubomi, Adekunle Adedeji (CrownOfEko), Precious Oluwemimo, and Adelana Victor himself, weaving together diverse voices and perspectives. The instrumental mastery of Ojelana Joseph on flute, alongside the production expertise of Olufowobi Jide (Dajidd), Akinkumi Hephzibah, Njoku Favour (Nj Beats), and Adelana Victor, adds depth and musicality to each piece. Released under Brokenn Melody Records.
